You have those meaningful stories—but you may not know how to recognize or shape the moments in your life that contain them. Whatever your reason for wanting to learn how to tell personal stories, this session will give you the tools and the experience. In this entertaining and interactive 6-week workshop grounded in paired exercises, writing, delivery, and personal coaching we’ll explore our life stories with curiosity. You will learn how to recognize stories in your own experience, apply storytelling elements, shape them with a clear structure, keep people listening, and tell at least one story out loud. You’ll leave with more stories taking shape, reusable frameworks, and the confidence that comes from having actually done it. New and returning participants are welcome. Diane Wyzga has been wearing a storyteller's hat for over 30 years in nursing, business, law, podcasting, teaching, & coaching the power of our voice and stories. When someone comes to you with a story they need to tell, they are bringing you something they’ve been processing, shaping, and trying to make sense of—possibly for decades. The story is already there. It has been there the whole time. My job, as a story doula is not to give you a story. It is to help you find the one you are already living. You can pay $65 by credit card as part of your registration process, or you can put cash or a check made out to WIAC (Whidbey Island Arts Council) in the payment jar in our classroom. If the full fee is a stretch for you, please pay as you are able - this ensures the future of Create Space.
