Service Description

Tuesdays, October 7, 14, 21 and 28 3:00 – 5:00 PM Payment to Create Space is $45 for the 4-class series Additional materials fee to the teachers is $5. If this is a stretch, please pay what you can Create a decorative fabric scroll using simple hand-stitching and fabric collage techniques. We’ll start with narrow scrolls (approximately 2-3 inches wide and 1-3 feet long) so they come together quickly and easily. This is a good opportunity for both novice and experienced crafters. No previous sewing or art experience is needed, just an interest in spending some creative time in a mellow atmosphere with like-minded people. These scrolls make a nice display in any room and also make great gifts. We’ll provide material for the backing, an abundant selection of fabric scraps for the decorative top layer, embellishments, a review of easy stitching practices, and lots of inspiring samples to look at. Participants will receive a list of other sewing items to bring. To make your payment by credit card, click ‘Add to Cart’ on the registration page or use the ‘Donate’ button on our website. Or you can put cash or a check made out to WIAC (Whidbey Island Arts Council) in the payment jar in our classroom. If you are unable to afford the full fee, please pay as you are able. Your payments insure the future of Create Space. Diane Leganza is an artist, educator and creative spirit who shares a Greenbank forest home with her husband, 2 dogs and 1 cat. She and her husband, Mark, used to camp on Whidbey in the 1970s and they moved here after she retired from teaching Art 10 years ago. She is thrilled to live among other creatives, exploring new techniques, skills and methods. Lianna Gilman is a free-style weaver and fiber artist with an adventurous mixed-media spirit.
