We will make flat sheets of paper from cotton and linen linters. We’ll discuss equipment, fibers, pulp preparation, sizing, and what’s needed to make paper in your own kitchen. Bring an old bed sheet or about 2 yds of non-iron-on Pellon to cut into squares to put between sheets of paper. The more you have, the more pieces of paper you can make; 2 old towels and a 14” x12” x 5” plastic dishpan. Optional: cookie cutters, jello molds, pressed dried leaves and flowers. Dress to get a little wet. Marcy Johnson has been collecting and saving all kinds of paper since she was a small child. She has been making paper and books, weaving, spinning, and making jewelry and has been enjoying teaching people these arts for several decades. Marcy was the owner and operator of Weaving Works in Seattle’s University District for 50 years. You will find her beautiful woven goods and jewelry at the Bayview Saturday farmers’ market and in the Artworks Gallery in Langley.
