Paper + Magic with Lianna Gilman and Jackie Amatucci Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31 1:00 to-4:00 pm Cost is $35 for the 2-day workshop. Additional materials fee is $15 to Lianna and Jackie, payable in the classroom. We’ll explore easy techniques for creating amazing papers that look more complicated to make than they actually are. This workshop is about building up your stash for collage and mixed-media, greeting cards, gift wrap, journaling or wall art, all with a free-style approach – no rules, no right/wrong, no expectations about making “Art.” We’ll work with paint, ink, water and a few surprise ingredients that interact in unpredictable ways, creating opportunities for magical results. Join us for 2 afternoons of playful techniques that include “stained glass” tissue, paper netting made by stitching and dissolving, National Geographic magazine images altered with Citra-Solv, ink made from tea, mark-making with coffee, texture rubbings, “fractals” made with plastic-wrap and more. All materials will be provided. Lianna Gilman is a free-style weaver and fiber artist with an adventurous mixed-media spirit. She creates one-of-a-kind wearable art, wall-hangings, table-runners, vessels and whimsical whatnots. Visit www.heartsong-weaving.com for more about her work. Jackie Amatucci has been a mixed media artist for over 10 years. She also is a potter, jewelry maker, basket maker, and seamstress. She loves sharing her skills and delights in supporting others to make their own masterpieces. Jackie is co-founder of Create Space Langley. As a high school teacher for 30 years, her love of teaching and learning has never waned. Jackie was a teaching artist at Power of Hope Teen Camps for many years. She was a mentor and teaching artist for Seattle-based Young Women Empowered for 13 years. To pay the class fee by credit card, click ‘Add to Cart’ on the registration page.
