Service Description

Open Circle Community Choir Mondays, 6:30-8:30 September 8, 2025 - February 2, 2026 (no rehearsals on December 20 & 27) Concert on Sunday, February 8, 2026 $200 for this 20-week session (you are welcome even if you can't pay the full fee) Directed by Peggy Taylor and Barbara Dunn The Open Circle Community Choir is a non-audition community choir that has been engaging folks on Whidbey Island in singing for the past 20 years. We sing music from around the world that is specially arranged for community choirs. The music is easy to learn and the tunes often accompany you through the week. We welcome people of all levels of singing experience, including new singers. Our fall/winter session with culminate with a concert on Sunday, February 8 at a location to be determined. We meet In the Fellowship Hall of the Langley Methodist Church, 301 Anthes Ave., Langley We invite you to come and try out the choir for the first two weeks before making a decision to join. How to pay: 1. Through our donate button at createspacelangley.org 2. By cash or by a check made out to WIAC (Whidbey Island Arts Council) If you are unable to pay by the first session, you are welcome to pay in installments or weekly. If you are unable to pay the entire fee, please pay as you are able. We want everyone to be able to sing. Peggy Taylor fell in love with harmony at 4 years old through singing in the car with her mother. She attended Boston Conservatory of Music and received a Masters of Education specializing in Dalcroze Eurhythmics (a somatic-based approach to learning music) from Lesley University and Longy School of Music in Cambridge MA. She founded the choir 20 years ago and has served as director and co-director in the years since. Barbara Dunn is a gifted presenter and musical performer who inspires her audience with a creative delivery of spoken word and song. In her choral directing the draws on more than 25 years of experience as a music therapist, social worker, psychotherapist, community and performing musician. She has recorded five musical albums, and authored the book More Than a Song: Exploring the Healing Art of Music Therapy.
