Service Description

Wednesday's, April 10 & 17 10 am to noon Suggested donation $20 plus a $10 materials fee After her very exciting hat making class in March, Peggy Juve has consented to continue teaching us ways to make hats and clothing unique and beautiful This class is for people who have a basic understanding of sewing and associated techniques. We will work with both cotton and silk to create embellishments--flowers, leaves, and other forms, which you can use on hats, to make decorative pins, and add a creative touch to your clothing. Bring your imagination and a pair of shears and we will all be mad hatters together! Note: For those who took Peggy's hat class: she will teach the embellishments that she demonstrated so quickly in our previous class and give us a chance to practice each one to learn the technique. She also has some others to teach us. Peggy has been a practicing studio artist, shown regionally and nationally, since 1977. Peggy has worked in a multitude of mediums including textile surface design, oil painting, glass painting, wood, ceramics, mixed media, clothing design and construction. Peggy has also taught regionally and nationally. Peggy has enjoyed designing with fabrics elements for years! Peggy has also served her community as an avid volunteer. Since moving to Whidbey Island in 1996, her volunteer activities have included co-founding the Island Shakespeare Festival (ISF) in 2010, serving as the founding Board President of the Whidbey Children’s Theater, serving on the steering committee for Langley Creates. She currently serves with the South Whidbey Community Center Campus Stewards. Peggy has been a merchant and business owner since 2008: Eddy’s, Side Market, and the Bard’s Boutique, a gift shop supporting Island Shakespeare Festival.
