Service Description
Let’s Make Origami Decorations with Marcy Johnson Tuesdays, December 8 & 15 10 am - noon Cost $27 (includes materials) In week one we'll focus on making origami Cranes. The are complicated to learn, but once the directions connect, folding is mindless and fun. You can make cranes any size from small to very large. You can make them in to ornaments, mobiles, crane chains, or just giant cranes hanging from ceilings. We will cut paper to make our cranes. Bring colored calendar pages, wrapping paper, and colorful magazine pages. We'll have origami paper for you to use. In week 2 we'll make origami light globes: Using translucent papers to fold small squares into a globe that will cover twinkle/ferry lights. We'll discuss the best papers to use in the first session. I will bring some appropriate papers that can be purchased. Bring a string of twinkle lights the length you want to use. Marcy Johnson has been making paper and books, weaving, spinning, and making jewelry and has been enjoying teaching people these arts for several decades. Marcy was the owner and operator of Weaving Works in Seattle’s University District for 50 years. You will find her beautiful woven goods and jewelry at the Bayview Saturday farmers’ market and in the Artworks Gallery in Langley.
