Service Description

LET’S GET SOME PERSPECTIVE! A class for Artists with Deon Matzen Thursday February 19 1 - 3 pm . Do you have trouble accurately portraying how shapes move in the distance in your paintings or drawings? In two consecutive classes, Deon will teach two simple methods for using perspective for drawing and painting success. You are welcome to take either class separately or both. Sign up for each class separately. Sign up for one-point perspective in this listing. You'll find the two-point perspective class as a separate listing. The One Point Perspective class is February 19 from 1 - 3 pm. The examples will be drawn on the board and then you will work to achieve the same results on paper you have brought. Be sure to bring a pencil as well. The Two Point Perspective class is on February 26th and will take you through drawing two point perspective objects at eye level, above eye level and below eye level. We will also learn how perspective is used to portray curved objects such as vases and silos. (You need to sign up for this session separately. It's listed on our class list.) Take one or both of these classes and learn to be intuitive about how shapes move in the distance. Deon Matzen paints in both oil and watercolor, though the watercolor is often on unusual substrates like hardboard She paint animals, old buildings and trucks (unrestored). Recently she started a sequence of watercolor birds. Her main genre is "vanishing rural America." Her inspiration is anything with color. She has completed 144 dog portrait commissions, several dozen cats, a pig, and a family of ducks. Deon has a degree in fine art and has painted continually since 1995 in watercolor for the first ten years then switching to oils. Now she works with both.
