Service Description

Fridays March 6, 13, 20, 27 1-4 pm Cost: $65 There is a $20 materials fee due at the first class to the teachers. If this is a stretch, please pay what you can. This class is about exploring who you are as a creator and falling in love with the magic and joyful aliveness of your own creativity. The exploration begins with meeting our inner artist - and everyone has one, even if you’re not acquainted yet! We’ll be playing with a wide range of materials and mixed-media techniques drawn from Jackie and Lianna’s years of creative experience. On a deeper level, we’ll be sharing poetry, writing prompts and reflections to explore our inner gifts and potentials. Think of all of this as creating a collection of love letters to and from your own heart – honoring the wholeness of your life experiences. All materials will be provided, as well as a portfolio for storing your newly created embellished papers and collages. Jackie Amatucci has been a mixed media artist for over 10 years. She also is a potter, jewelry maker, basket maker and seamstress. She loves sharing her skills and delights in supporting others to make their own masterpieces. Jackie is co-founder of Create Space Langley. As a high school teacher for 30 years, her love of teaching and learning has never waned. Jackie was a teaching artist at Power of Hope Teen Camps for many years. She was a mentor and teaching artist for Seattle-based Young Women Empowered for 13 years. Lianna Gilman is a free-style weaver and fiber artist with an adventurous mixed-media spirit. She found her inner artist when she traded in perfection for curiosity and adopted the free-style approach of “no right, no wrong, no mistakes.” Visit www.heartsong-weaving.com for more about her fiber arts. To pay by credit card, you can click ‘Add to Cart’ on the registration page or use the ‘Donate’ button on the website. Or you can put cash or a check made out to WIAC (Whidbey Island Arts Council) in the payment jar in our classroom. If the full fee is a stretch for you, please pay as you are able - this ensures the future of Create Space.
