Service Description
Free-style Fiber Nests With Lianna Gilman July 29 & 30 (Wednesday & Thursday) 1:30 – 4:00 PM Cost: $35 Materials fee to Lianna: $10 These small nests offer a soft, almost magical invitation to rest, to nestle in and be held. With an orientation to freestyle process rather than precision, we’ll gather, layer, stitch and gently shape a medley of yarns, fabric and loose fibers into organic forms that echo the feeling of found nests. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to follow your own curiosity in playing with color and texture. This is a practice in soft structure, improvisation and making something quietly (or wildly!) beautiful by hand. All materials will be provided. Participants, please bring: Any additional yarns, fabrics or embellishments that you particularly want to work with Basic hand-sewing supplies – pins, needles, small scissors etc Your own sewing machine if you have one that’s easy to transport – or -- you can assemble and pin the foundations in class and then machine-stitch at home. There will be at least 1 sewing machine set up in the classroom to use Lianna Gilman is a free-style weaver and fiber artist with an adventurous mixed-media spirit.
