July 8 & 9 1:30 - 4:00 PM Cost: $30 Materials fee to Lianna $10 Using fabric scraps, yarn, ribbon and embellishments, we’ll create collages in a variety of forms, including nests, bowls, bundles, wall-hangings, scrolls, scarves and textured accents for incorporating into other projects. These pieces can be stitched by machine or hand. The process is simple and the results are magical. The invitation here is to explore color and texture with curiosity, noticing what delights you and being playful with it. There are no rules about what’s right or wrong, no pressure to produce “art.” You’ll have plenty of time to experiment with the different forms and make as many pieces as you’d like. Materials that will be provided: Abundant assortment of fabric, yarn, ribbon, roving and thread Selection of buttons, beads and other embellishments Water-soluble stabilizer Participants, please bring: Fabric, yarn, beads, charms, old jewelry, etc from your stash, if you want to work with them Basic hand-sewing supplies – pins, needles, small scissors etc For machine sewing, bring your own sewing machine – or -- you can assemble and pin the foundations in class and then machine-stitch at home. There will be at least 1 sewing machine in the classroom to use if you don’t have one. Lianna Gilman is a free-style weaver and fiber artist with an adventurous mixed-media spirit.
