Service Description

Thursdays, April 4, 11, 18, 25 1:00 – 3:00 PM Requested donation is $40. Please donate the entire $40 before the first class (by credit card at the donate button on createspacelangley.org) or by check or cash at the first class in the donation jar in your classroom. Please donate the entire amount even if you can't attend all 4 classes. If you can't afford $40, please give as you are able. Your donations ensure the future of Create Space. There is a $10 materials fee due at the first class. If this is a stretch, please pay what you are able. Using simple paint, collage and stamping techniques, you can easily and quickly fill a sketchbook with richly embellished pages, creating a custom journal ready for your reflections, dreams, everyday notes-to-self, poetry or other writing projects. No previous “art” experience is needed – we’re just going to meet the blank pages with a playful spirit and see what alchemy emerges through color and texture. Lianna brings her free-style "no-right, no-wrong, no-mistakes" approach to creating these journals. We’ll use some unconventional ways of applying paint that make it more fun and less fussy than you might imagine. In addition to working with paint and collage, we’ll also incorporate adding pockets and fold-outs to your pages. Materials provided: - Canson mixed-media sketchbooks (7 x 10 inches, spiral-bound) - Acrylic paints and paint application tools - An assortment of papers, magazines, fabric, ribbon, ephemera & embellishments - Stamps and stamp-pad ink Participants, please bring: - A glue stick - Any additional interesting papers or collage materials you’d like to work with - If you have a favorite sketchbook or journal with paper that will take wet media, please feel free to bring it Lianna Gilman is a free-style weaver and fiber artist with an adventurous mixed-media spirit.
