Service Description

Thursdays, October 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 1:00 - 3:00 PM Cost: $55 Material Fee: $18 (paid to Sarah at first class) If you’ve always wanted to draw but never knew where to start, or if you don’t feel confident with your skills and want a refresher on the basics, this class is for you. Through a series of exercises, you will learn about shape, line, texture, form and value. You will have an opportunity to work with pencil on a variety of papers. Each class will grow your imagination and skill while increasing your confidence and pleasure in drawing. If you have never taken a drawing class from Sarah, begin with this one. This is the prerequisite for Sarah’s other class(es). Sarah Halpern has worked as a designer all of her adult life, creating designs for museums, toy companies and theme parks. She earned her BFA from the University of Washington and her MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to working as a designer she has taught Design and Technical Illustration at college level and worked for many years as an Artist In Residence at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She recently returned “home” to the Pacific Northwest and has been participating in local figure drawing workshops here on Whidbey Island. She is very excited to be part of Create Space Langley. You can pay $55 by credit card as part of your registration process, or you can put cash or a check made out to WIAC (Whidbey Island Arts Council) in the payment jar in our classroom.
