Service Description

Concertina Collage Thursdays May 7, 14, 21 & 28 1:30 - 3.30 pm Cost: $45 for the 4-class series, plus a $10 materials due to the teachers at the first class Concertina sketchbooks with 35 pages of high-quality mixed-media paper will be available for an additional $15 if you’d like one, or you can make/bring one of your own. These sessions are oriented to playing with mixed-media collage and mark-making. We especially encourage you to work in a concertina (accordion-fold) sketchbook, which adds an exciting dimension to working at your creative edges and developing your own style. Jackie and Lianna will guide the class in an open-studio structure, encouraging your explorations with the techniques we’ll share from our years of experience. You’ll have the use of a wide range of collage materials (paper and fabric), mark-making implements, and mixed-media supplies. This is a great opportunity to be curious and playful with color and texture while enjoying creative time in a relaxed setting. We welcome anyone who has some familiarity with collage and/or mark-making, at any level of experience. Jackie Amatucci has been a mixed media artist for over 10 years. She also is a potter, jewelry maker, basket maker, and seamstress. She loves sharing her skills and delights in supporting others to make their own masterpieces. Jackie is co-founder of Create Space Langley. As a high school teacher for 30 years, her love of teaching and learning has never waned. Jackie was a teaching artist at Power of Hope Teen Camps for many years. She was a mentor and teaching artist for Seattle-based Young Women Empowered for 13 years. Lianna Gilman is a free-style weaver and fiber artist with an adventurous mixed-media spirit.
