WATERCOLOR FOUNDATIONS CLASS - LET IT FLOW!ALL LEVELS WELCOME

Have you long admired watercolor paintings and wanted to learn how to paint with this beautiful medium? Nothing compares to its luminous, gem-like qualities, its textures and interactive, uncontrollable nature. Creating beautiful watercolor paintings is not a miracle or a gift of knowledge bestowed upon the artist. Painting with watercolor is a skill and with practice you can learn it! In this class we’ll explore the many tools used to create luminous watercolor paintings: pigments, mixing techniques, color theory, water control, brushes, papers and picture-making fundamentals. You’ll learn through demonstrations and exercises designed to build your understanding of the medium, it’s many possibilities and sharpen your skills of observation. Come join me for some painting fun and we’ll put some mileage on your brushes! Speaking of brushes, as a Thank You, you’ll receive a new brush for joining the class.

Location: Create Space, Langley Middleschool (Directions to be emailed)  Class meets: Saturdays Feb 1 & 8, 2020; 10 am - 2:30 pm (half hour lunch break); Cost: $160

About Kris Wiltse

For over 30 years I've created illustrations in a block print style for the publishing, editorial and packaging industries nationwide. In the Puget Sound region I'm best known for my interpretive signs depicting marine life, birds, flora and history. Most of these signs can be seen at numerous parks and waysides on Whidbey and Camano Islands, Washington. Much of my art and illustration focuses on the natural world. Trees, water, animals and human relationships are common subjects. And because I enjoy spending time outdoors, I often sketch and paint on location. Many of these works are shown and sold at galleries, cafes and restaurants. Before starting my illustration career I received a BA in painting from Western Washington University, Bellingham. I continued my studies in illustration at the School of Visual Concepts, Seattle, where I eventually taught figure drawing, basic drawing, watercolor and illustration for seven years. I continue to  teach watercolor periodically to groups and individuals, usually by demand. Feel free to contact me if you're interested in classes and I'll let you know when they're scheduled. They'll also be posted on my website under Classes & Workshops.  Click on WC Videos to see my watercolor demos. If you're interested in commissioning me for interpretive sign design and illustration  I can be reached here or by phone, 425-231-4106.
