About the event

Ukulele Class for Novices: Building Your Repertoire

with David Licastro

Wednedays: 3:30-5:00 PM

May 31, June 7 & 14 (this is a three week class, David is going away in late June)

To ensure our ability to continue running low cost classes at Create Space, we are now asking people to make a $10 donation per class session--that would be $30 for this three week class. For information on how to make your donation, look below David Licastro's bio. [If you are unable to pay $10 per class session you are welcome to come no matter what you can pay!}

Do you have some basic experience playing ukulele and want to learn more? Or perhaps you’ve put your uke down and want to get started again? This class is for people who have a basic knowledge of uke playing--how to hold and tune your instrument, play some basic chords, and know how to play along with some easy songs. (Anyone who attended the beginner's class at Create Space in May or October qualifies.) It’s also for people of any experience who want to play along with a group. This class will keep you motivated and engage you fully in the fun of playing songs with a group of players.

In each session we will do skill building with a special focus on playing songs.

It't highly recommended to buy The Daily Ukulele book ($30 from Amazon) if you are able. Also bring a music stand, ukulele, and tuner (if you have one).

David Licastro is a celebrated local musician who has been teaching private music lessons and classes since the age of 17. He received a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar from California State University Sacramento in 1979. After moving to Whidbey Island in 1980, David has performed in various musicals and groups including the Secrets, Western Heroes, Deja Blooze and Pete. He is currently teaching private music lessons at Blue Sound

New information about our donation request. To cover the full cost of your class at Create Space, we ask that you donate $10 per class session if you are able: that’s $40 for the four week class. This will insure our ability to offer classes into the future. That said, we want to make our classes accessible to all. A $5 donation per session or $20 pays half the cost. If you are unable to pay anything, you are still totally welcome.

Here are some ways to donate:

1. Give a cash donation at the class

2. Give a donation by check at the class: checks need to be made out to Partners for Youth Empowerment

3. Make a donation on line at www.createspacelangley.org

Please help us ensure the future of Create Space by making a donation that is possible for you!

For covid safety we require mask wearing at Create Space
