About the event
Ukulele Class for Beginners (and others who want to get playing)
with David Licastro
3 Wednesdays, 3:30 – 5:00 pm
October 5, 12 & 19
Suggested donation: $5-$10 per session if you are able (all donations go to our future teacher fund so we can continue classes after our current grant runs out)
For covid safety we require proof of vaccination and mask wearing.
Do you have a ukulele hanging around your house that you want to learn to play? Maybe you’ve been considering taking up an instrument for the cognitive benefits? Or perhaps you’ve put your uke down and want to get started again? Whether you are a complete beginner or want some motivation to play again, this class will get you on your way. Once completed you are qualified to take the Ukulele for Novices and Beyond Class.
In each session we’ll explore four primary content areas:
- Instrument ownership & care
- Simple chords & progressions
- Strumming & picking techniques
- Basic theory & sight reading
We’ll learn easy songs from folk, pop, blues and traditional Hawaiian music (singing along - with our masks on)
No experience playing an instrument required.
