About the event

UkuLangle! Section: Level 2

Group Ukulele Lessons for novices who have some experience playing

with David Edwards

Fridays: 1:45-3:15

June 17 & 24, July 1 & 15 (no class on July 8)

Suggested donation: $5-$10 per class day if you are able

Do you have a bit of experience playing ukelele and would like to learn more? Or perhaps you’ve put your uke down and want to get started again? This class is for people who have a basic knowledge of uke playing--how to hold and tune your instrrument,  play some basic chords, and know how to play along with some easy songs. (Anyone who attended the beginner's class at Create Space in May would qualify.) This class will keep you motivated and engage you fully in the fun of playing songs with a group of players.

In each session we’ll focus on three primary content areas:

  • Easy chords & progressions
  • Strumming & picking techniques
  • Increasing your repetoire of songs

We’ll learn songs from folk, pop, blues and traditional Hawaiian music.

David Edwards has a degree in music education and has taught and coached in many settings across all levels and life stages. He has an exquisite solo voice and plays multiple instruments. He is Co-Director of Open Circle Singers, South Whidbey’s community choir, and has also served as choir director at UUCWI and Unity of Whidbey. He is a warm and engaging teacher who will help you connect with your innate musicality.
