Songs can express the essence of our spirit in unique ways, and everyone is capable of writing songs regardless of musical experience. (Think about how children often make up songs spontaneously!) In this workshop, singer/songwriter and music therapist Barbara Dunn will help you explore your voice, what you want to say, and how you want to say it through song. We will explore a variety of tools for songwriting including some basic music theory, song forms, and songwriting tips. Songs can be simple in structure or more complex. They can be personally valuable solely through the process of writing them, or thay can be used to communicate thoughts and feelings to others.

In this class you'll have the opportunity to explore and expand your creative boundaries in a non-judgemental safe environment. Novice as well as experienced songwriters are welcome. Everyone will have the opportunity to write a song or songs. Sharing them will be optional. Feel free to bring an instrument that you might want use for songwriting if you have one. This is totally optional. We also have a piano at Create Space.
